Thesis 03 · Exposure and dependencies

Which risks are hidden across the sports-business record?

A risk may not appear in one document. It can emerge from the interaction of a stadium agreement, financing terms, a media-rights change, a legal dispute, a sponsor relationship, or a league policy.

The hypothesis

Can connecting source documents and events reveal material dependencies and changing exposures that fragmented research overlooks?

This is a research question, not a claim that a sports-specific EphemerisX product already exists.

Evidence to connect
  • Contractual obligations, termination clauses, and renewal windows
  • Debt, guarantees, and capital commitments
  • Legal disputes, regulatory changes, and league policies
  • Concentration in media, sponsorship, venue, or ownership relationships
  • New events that change the meaning of earlier commitments
How to test it

Test the value, not the buzzword.

Choose a defined organization or transaction. Build a dated map of material commitments, dependencies, conflicts, and triggering events. Have an independent reviewer assess whether it reveals material risks or follow-up questions missing from a standard summary.

Potential audience

Who might care?

Sports-business risk teams, lenders, investors, legal and commercial advisers, and corporate strategy groups.

The first goal is to validate a recurring problem and buyer—not to assume product-market fit.
